Xane Washington has been named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Washington set a new career-long with a 14-game hitting streak, batting .562 with nine hits which included two doubles and a homer to help the Colonels to a 4-0 week and their first series sweep of the season. The Houma, Louisiana native had at least two hits in all four games and finished with 10 runs scored and 7 RBIs. Seven hits came in the sweep of HCU where he had a 3-for-3 game, reaching base all five times Saturday with a homer, two walks, four runs scored, and three RBIs.
Washington also stole four bases for the week, totaled four walks, and finished with an impressive .682 on-base percentage.
An All-Southland selection last season, the honor is the first weekly award for Washington for his career.Â

Nicholls will head to Baton Rouge on Tuesday (April 25) to take on No. 1 LSU at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers defeated the Colonels earlier this month, 12-2, in seven innings.Â
