Xane Washington notched his second straight Southland Hitter of the Week honor as the league office announced Monday afternoon its weekly awards.
Washington posted a .529 batting average in the Colonels' four games, extending his hitting streak to 18 games in the process. He started the week with a 2-for-3 outing in the win at No. 1 LSU, giving Nicholls a 3-0 lead in the fifth with a 2-run single. He was also walked twice - including an intentional pass - in the ninth that loaded the bases, setting up the go-ahead runs.
For the weekend, Washington opened the series at Northwestern State with another two-hit game which included a triple, then drove in a run on a base hit in the second game. The Houma, Louisiana native wrapped up the week by going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs in the 9-5 victory over the Demons.
Washington totaled nine hits and five RBIs for the week and now leads the Southland with a .378 batting average.

Nicholls will host Southeastern for a three-game series this weekend. Friday's opener (May 5) is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
