LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Nicholls State University softball freshman
Erin Krause has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region Second Team, as the NFCA announced Thursday afternoon its 2023 NCAA Division I All-Region squads.
A native of Cypress, Texas, Krause had a sensational rookie season for the Colonels, leading the team with a .363 batting average which ranked fourth in the Southland. She led the SLC with five triples and tied for fifth with 12 doubles while driving in 30 RBIs. Krause also tied for first on the team with 14 multi-hit games, highlighted by a 4-for-4 outing at Texas A&M-Commerce.
Krause played primarily at second base this season but also started at shortstop and third base. She had just four errors on the year and led the Colonels with 113 assists. Krause was also a part of six double plays.
Krause was one of four players from the Southland to garner NFCA All-Region. She was joined on the South team by Southeastern's Bailey Krolczyk (Third Team) while HCU's AB Garcia (Second Team) and A&M-Corpus Christi's Primrose Aholelei (Third Team) made the Central squad.
