Colonels Fall at ACU, 4-0

ABILENE, Texas – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team was unable to score and fell 4-0 in a physical battle with Abilene Christian University inside Elmer Gray Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
 
The match saw both teams commit at least 10 fouls, including three yellow cards by the Wildcats and two by the Colonels.
 
The Wildcats (3-0) scored two goals within a few minutes of each other (17:15, 19:31) to hold a 2-0 advantage going into the intermission. In the second half, ACU added a third goal at 76:23 and a fourth score at 87:36 to put the match on ice.
 
Nicholls was outshot by double figures (25-4) for the third time this season. Junior defender Lauren Andre took two shots with one on target, fellow defender and classmate Peyton Bastine shot once, and senior forward Gabrielle Champagne's lone shot was on target.
 
In her second start of the season, redshirt freshman goalkeeper Megan Cook played all 90 minutes and tallied six saves.
 
UP NEXT
The Red & Gray (0-4) will return home to begin the month of September hosting SWAC foes, Jackson State (Sept. 1) and Texas Southern (Sept. 3) at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
