THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team was beaten 3-0 by Houston Christian inside Stopher Gym on Thursday night.
 
Despite going on four different three-point scoring runs, hitting .325, and only having three attacking errors, the Colonels were unable to sustain momentum and dropped the first set 27-25.
 
In the second frame, HCU pieced together seven consecutive points to eventually run away with the set, 25-18.
 
The third stanza saw the Huskies produce a pair of three point runs and a five-point run to generate a lead and win the set, 25-21.
 
The Colonel offense was led by freshman outside hitter 
Autumn Perry who registered a double-double. The rookie had 12 kills and 11 digs while hitting .400 for the match.
 
The attack was paced by freshman setter 
Berra Soyler and junior setter 
Kendall Battistella who had 17 and 15 assists, respectively.
 
Also chipping in offensively was sophomores 
Paris Dixon and 
Mackenzie Pryor who had seven kills apiece, while junior outside hitter 
Trinity Vinzant added six.
 
Defensively, the Colonels were led by sophomore libero 
Gabrielle Barth who had 13 digs followed by Vinzant (11). Perry, Dixon, and senior middle blocker 
Jhayla Bolden tallied three blocks apiece, while Pryor and Vinzant combined for three.
