NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team was beaten 3-0 by Northwestern State University inside Prather Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.
The first stanza saw a resilient comeback effort by Nicholls come up just short as they dropped set 1, 25-23. The Colonels faced a five-point deficit and then rallied off four consecutive points to pull within one (21-20).
In set two, the Lady Demons went on a 10-point run and eventually took the set 25-12.
In the third frame, scored 12 of the first 15 points and ran away with the set, 25-13.
Offensively, Nicholls was spearheaded by junior outside hitter
Trinity Vinzant who had a team-high seven kills followed by freshman outside hitter
Autumn Perry (5) and sophomore middle blocker
Paris Dixon (4).
Perry led the way defensively with eight digs, followed by Vinzant with six and junior defensive specialist
Rae Leano with five. Perry, Dixon, and senior middle blocker
Jhayla Bolden tallied two blocks apiece.
