LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team fought hard but fell to McNeese 3-0 inside the Legacy Center on Tuesday night.
The Red & Gray began the third stanza with a 4-0 advantage and then go up 15-10 at the media timeout. After that, the Cowgirls score six straight points to go up 16-15. The teams continued to trade points before the Cowgirls took the final three points to win 29-27.
The first set saw back and forth action in the first half with the Colonels trailing by one (14-15). After that the Cowgirls scored 10 of the final 12 points to claim the set 25-16.
The second frame, Nicholls fell behind 20-13 and tried to rally late but ultimately lost the set 25-17.
The Nicholls offense was spearheaded by junior outside hitter
Trinity Vinzant who registered her 11th career double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs.
Also chipping in was freshman
Autumn Perry and sophomore
Mackenzie Pryor who had eight kills apiece. Perry hit a team-high .421 and hit over .400 for the fourth time this season.

Berra Soyler and junior setter
Kendall Battistella paced the Red & Gray attack finishing the contest with 16 and 11 assists, respectively.
The Colonel defense was anchored by sophomore libero
Gabrielle Barth who finished with 13 digs. At the net, middle blockers senior
Jhayla Bolden and sophomore
Paris Dixon combined for three blocks.
