THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team was beaten 3-0 by UIW inside Stopher Gym on Saturday afternoon.
In the first set, UIW strung together seven consecutive points to eventually run away with the set, 25-15.
The second stanza saw, the Cardinals execute two three point runs and a four-point run to take the set 25-15.
In the third frame the Colonels came out strong with a 6-2 start. After that the momentum swung in favor of the Cardinals who went on a six-point scoring surge to take the set, 25-19.
The Nicholls attack was led by freshman outside hitter
Gracie Campbell and sophomore outside hitter
Mackenzie Pryor who had seven kills apiece.
Defensively, the unit was anchored by sophomore defensive specialist
Gabrielle Barth who had a team-high nine digs while her classmate middle blocker
Paris Dixon led the team with four blocks.

The Red & Gray make the short trip to New Orleans to battle UNO on Thursday, Oct. 5 and then return home to host Lamar on Saturday Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. inside Stopher Gym.
