RUSTON, La. – Freshman forward
Brooke Cox found the right touch and scored her first career goal, however it wasn't enough for the Nicholls State University women's soccer team who fell 8-1 to Louisiana Tech at Robert Mack Caruthers Field on Thursday night.
LA Tech got off to a quick start, scoring four goals within the first 30 minutes of action. The Bulldogs' Kyra Taylor scored her first goal 10 minutes into the match. After setting up Taylor's first goal, Lauren Egbuloniu put two in the back of the net ('19 & '27), and Kalli Matlock put the home team up 4-0 ('29).
Just before halftime in the 40th minute, Cox was able to shake free of the defense and score for the Colonels.
In the second half, Taylor scored a second goal for the Bulldogs in the 67th minute, Flavie Dube added a goal in the 72nd minute, Matlock struck again in the 84th minute and Alma Cedefors converted a penalty kick just before the conclusion of the match.

Megan Cook started the match in goal and logged 34 minutes and three saves. Sophomore goalkeeper
Elizabeth Zepeda played the rest of the match and finished with one save.
Overall, the Colonels shot 11 times with seven on goal compared to the Bulldogs 21 with 12 on target. The teams also played a physical match that saw 13 fouls, including four yellow cards.
