CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Four double-figure scorers were not enough for the Nicholls State University women's basketball team as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored the game's final 10 points to defeat the Colonels, 58-52, inside the American Bank Center on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman guard
Britiya Curtis led Nicholls (8-10, 2-4 SLC) with 14 points, including a three-pointer that gave the Colonels a 52-48 edge with 3:40 remaining. But it would be the last points for the Red & Gray as the Islanders (12-5, 5-1 SLC) rallied for their seventh straight win in the series.
The game was a back-and-forth defensive battle that saw both teams shoot below 36 percent from the field and above 70 percent from the free throw line.
The Colonels shot 20-57 (35.1%) from the field and hit six of eight free throws that were all taken in the first half. The Islanders shot 16-48 (33.3%) from the field and was 21-29 from the charity stripe including 9-10 in the fourth quarter.

Kyla Hamilton and
Mikayla Etienne registered 11 points apiece. Hamilton hit five field goals, including one from beyond the arc, while stuffing the stat sheet with five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Alexander finished a rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
Etienne sparked a big third quarter for the Colonels, making three three-pointers as Nicholls outscored AMCC in the period, 20-9. Each team had a 20-point quarter after the Islanders led 25-23 at the intermission.
Mireia Aguado, Paige Allen and Alecia Westbrook all scored 13 to lead the Islanders
