THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team was beaten 3-0 by UIW on Thursday night.
The Colonels' offense struggled throughout the match as the unit hit .177 from the floor while the Cardinals offense hit .330. UIW took the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-14 as they took advantage of errors. The final set was closely contested as the Colonels built a 14-8 lead before the Cardinals clawed back to take the set 25-21.
The Red & Gray attack was spearheaded by
Leah Linares Castro who posted a game high 15 kills.
Tierney Terrell finished with 12 kills and 10 digs. The Colonel offense was paced by setters
Evelyn Trivino Espinosa and
Ava-Claire Calais who registered 25 and 12 assists, respectively.
Defensively, libero
Kenley Nonato led the squad with 16 digs while
Brightyn Ratcliff tallied eight. In the middle
Jordan Gamble added four kills and three blocks.

The Red & Gray (7-11, 2-5 SLC) will cross state lines to battle Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Oct. 24) and UTRGV (Oct. 26).
