THIBODAUX, La. – Over the weekend, the Nicholls State University soccer team celebrated senior day and played its final two home games of the season.
GAME ONE: Nicholls vs Texas A&M – Corpus Christi
The Colonels created multiple chances throughout the game but could not find the back of the net in the 3-0 loss to the Islanders.
After playing over 25 scoreless minutes, the Islanders broke the tie with a goal by Cilia Leal (29:23). The Islanders added a pair of goals by Mia-Lisa Atis (61:13) and Alisa Divano (84:02).
The Red & Gray took eight shots with
Peyton Bastine taking three followed by
Mylea Riggle (2).
Kaylin Wheeler,
Koryn Barrett, and
Avery Mondoux too one shot apiece. Senior goalkeeper
Megan Cook faced eight shots on target and made four saves.
GAME TWO: Nicholls vs SFA
Similar to the match against the Islanders, the Colonels created multiple chances but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Colonels took seven shots with six on target. Barrett led the way with three shots, while
Kori Ingram,
Ryan Griep,
Lauren Andre, and Bastine took one shot apiece.
SFA scored a pair of goals in the first half as Jayme Bailey scored her eighth of the season (24:31) and Ava Shannon registered her fifth of the year (39:55). Alex Bayouth's fourth goal of the season gave SFA a 3-0 lead (77:40).
