THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team fell 6-4 to Louisiana Tech on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs struck first when Dalton Davis hit a two run RBI single to center field in the opening inning. The Red & Gray responded by taking the lead in the third frame.
Edgar Alvarez hit an RBI double to plate
Kaden Amundson hit a single.
Parker Coddou scored on a
Aaron Biediger RBI groundout and
Garrett Felix brought Alvarez home with a single up the middle.
After three scoreless innings, LA Tech took the lead again with an Ethan Bates RBI double and an RBI single by Adarius Myers. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the final frame when Will Safford hit a home run to right field.
The Colonels tried to rally in the ninth, but only scored one run on another Biediger RBI groundout. Overall, for Nicholls, Alvarez tallied three hits, while Felix and
Narvin Booker Jr. finished with two apiece.
Nico Saltaformaggio tallied four strikeouts and allowed three hits and two runs and moves to 3-2 on the season. For the Bulldogs, Reed Smith (1-2) earned his first victory of the season and Bates tallies his sixth save of the year.
