THIBODAUX, La – Nicholls State University baseball student-athletes, Nico Saltaformaggio, Devin Desandro, and Parker Coddou were named to the Southland Conference baseball All-Academic teams, as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.
 
Saltaformaggio makes the All-Academic squad for the third time in his career including a second consecutive first-team selection as he posted a 3.776 GPA. The Destrehan native, was named SLC Relief Pitcher of the Year and was named All-SLC First Team after he finished with a 7-4 record and two saves with a 4.32 ERA in 73 innings of work. He was one of eight SLC pitchers with at least six victories and ranks seventh in ERA in the league and 11th in opponent batting average (.268).
 
Desandro earns his third consecutive nod for the All-Academic Second Team as he finished the semester with a 3.679 GPA. The Thibodaux native, had 22 appearances and three starts, while posting a 3.84 ERA and was one of eight SLC pitchers with at least six victories. He was efficient this season as he recorded the third least number of walks in the SLC (15) while allowing the second least earned runs (27) and posting the seventh-best opponent batting average (.249).
 
Coddou makes the All-Academic team for the third time in his career, his second time being on the second team as he posted a 3.400 GPA. The Thibodaux native was named All-SLC for the third consecutive season, being named Second Team at shortstop. He was also named to the All-SLC Tournament team. Coddou played 58 games as the leadoff hitter, batting .282 with career-high 71 hits and 17 doubles. He added three triples and six home runs while registering 40 RBI and scoring 65 times. He recorded 18 multi-hit games including four hit performances against UNO and Tulane.

All nine Southland baseball institutions were represented among the 2024 Southland Academic All-Conference teams. Five members of the Southland All-Conference Team were automatic qualifiers to the all-academic first team.

The All-Academic teams are voted on by head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance staff members from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.25 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection, and have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests on the season, excluding pitchers.
