NATCHITOCHES, La. – After a steal and layup by
Tanita Swift tied the game at 44 with 5:17 to go the Nicholls State University women's basketball team went scoreless the remainder of the game in its 56-44 loss to Northwestern State University on Saturday afternoon.
Swift paced the Colonels in the first half as she scored 11 of her 17 team-high points. Despite Swift's hot start Nicholls shot 21 percent in the second quarter and trailed 26-19 at the intermission.
The Red & Gray second half comeback efforts was spearheaded by
Britiya Curtis who hit six field goals including a pair of triples to finish with14 points.
Elli Garnett added eight points and hauled in a team-best seven rebounds.
After Swift's steal and layup, the Lady Demons closed the game on a 12-0 run. NSU was led by Mya Blake and Vernell Atamah who had 19 points and nine rebounds apiece.
