COMMERCE, Texas - After battling to a scoreless tie for 70 minutes, the Nicholls State University women's soccer team surrendered two goals in a 2-0 loss to East Texas A&M Thursday night at the Lion Soccer Field.

Nicholls (4-7-1, 1-3 SLC) was limited to a single shot in the first half but picked up the offense with six in the second half. However, the Colonels came up empty in the scoring column for the fourth time this season.

For East Texas A&M (4-5-3, 1-0-3 SLC), Kristen Sueltz broke the tie with a goal off a corner kick in the 72nd minute. Nearly 10 minutes later, Malaya Ring made the final with her first goal of the season.

The Lions fired off 12 shots in each half to notch their first league win after opening the season with three draws. 

Lillie Mazur and Sammi Doyle each had two shots for Nicholls, while goalkeeper Aislinn Wright finished with three saves.
