THIBODAUX, La.  – Led by first year head coach Brent Haring, the Nicholls State University baseball team will begin the 2025 campaign in the three-game series against Northern Illinois on Feb. 14-16 at Ray E. Didier Field.
 
Nicholls had major turnover in the offseason as coach Haring welcome's 28 newcomers with only 12 players return from last season's Southland Championship squad. This season, the Colonels were picked fifth in the SLC preseason poll after winning 38 games and its second title in as many seasons.
 
Coach Haring spoke on his expectations heading into the opening weekend.
 
"I'm excited to see what this team does, and it is a talented group of young men," Haring said. "Their ability to stay locked in pitch to pitch and turn off the scoreboard and play will determine what we achieve this year."

Following Sunday's contest, the Red & Gray will welcome Omaha (Feb. 18) and LSU (Feb. 19) with first pitch for both being at 6:30 p.m.
