FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University softball's
Claire Sisco has been named Jersey Mike's SLC Hitter of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Sisco led Nicholls with a .538 batting average for the week, totaling seven hits with five runs scored and two RBIs. She hit an inside-the-park home run in the doubleheader sweep over Alcorn while reaching base three times in the Colonels' win against Penn State. Sisco hit safely in five of six games, including going 2-for-3 against No. 6 LSU.
The honor is the first weekly award for Sisco and first for the Colonels' this season.
Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school's sports information director. Voting for one's own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
