THIBODAUX, La. - With rain in the forecast this weekend, the Nicholls State University softball team's series against UIW has been moved up a day.
The opener will now be played on Thursday, March 13 with a single game at 4 p.m. Friday's doubleheader is set for 2 p.m.
Nicholls (9-14, 2-1 SLC) is coming off a series win over SFA in its league opener. The Colonels bounced back from a run-rule loss in the first game to notch 4-1 and 7-3 victories.
Claire Sisco posted another stellar weekend by hitting .500 which included two triples. She currently leads the offense with a .393 batting average. In the circle,
Sierra Ouellette had a victory after throwing five hitless innings in relief in the 4-1 win.
UIW (12-10, 2-1 SLC) also won its opening series against AMCC. The Cardinals will be looking for a second straight series win over the Colonels after taking two of three in San Antonio last year.
