FRISCO, Texas - For the second time in her career, Nicholls State University softball senior
Molly VandenBout has been named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
VandenBout posted a remarkable week at the plate, leading Nicholls to a 5-0 record which was capped with a sweep of Lamar. In the five games, she had a .647 batting average with 14 RBIs, five doubles and two home runs. VandenBout hit safely in each game with two three-hit efforts and a pair of two-hit games.
She totaled six hits including both homers in the sweep over the Cardinals and celebrated Senior Day by going 3-for-4 with a homer and 6 RBIs in the run-rule win finale.
Earlier in the week, VandenBout was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while throwing a five-inning shutout against Jackson State. She also had a 3-for-3 effort with 4 RBIs in the other win against JSU.

Nicholls will close out its home stand against Southern Miss on Wednesday, April 2. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
