FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University softball's
Erin Krause and
Molly Yoo were both recognized as the league's top performers as the duo was named Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Players of the Week, the SLC office announced Monday afternoon.
Krause received SLC Hitter of the Week for the second straight time, which was also the Colonels' fourth consecutive week earning the award. Yoo became the first Nicholls hurler to earn SLC Pitcher of the Week this season.
Krause had a hit in all six games for the week, batting .545 with 12 hits and nine RBIs to extend her hitting streak to 13 games. The Cypress, Texas native had at least two hits in the first five contests, which pushed her multi-hit game streak to nine. She also drove in three runs in the opener versus HCU and followed with three more two-RBI games.Â
In the Colonels' two sweeps, Krause totaled five runs scored, three doubles and three stolen bases. She also had a strong defensive showing at third base with 12 assists and no errors.Â
Yoo had a perfect 3-0 record in her three starts, posting a 0.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts and just one walk in 18 innings pitched. She started the week with two shutouts in the sweep of HCU, going seven and five innings in her two victories. In the series opener at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Yoo threw six innings with the lone run allowed coming in a two-error inning.Â
For the week, Yoo, also hailing from Cypress, Texas, allowed 11 hits with just one for extra bases, posting a .180 opponent batting average.Â
With the two sweeps, Nicholls extended its winning streak to 15 games which is currently the second longest in the nation behind Virginia Tech's 17 straight. The Colonels enter their final home series tied for third in the SLC standings, trailing both McNeese and Southeastern by 2.0 games.Â

The Colonels will host Northwestern State for their final home series, starting Thursday, April 17 with a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader.Â
