THIBODAUX, La. – After picking up the first road win of the season earlier in the week, the Nicholls State University baseball team will return home to host new Southland Conference foe, Stephen F. Austin on April 17-19.
First pitch from Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field on Thursday and Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. while the series finale on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Both teams enter the weekend after ending extended losing streaks. Nicholls (13-24, 6-15 SLC) snapped a six-game slide with a victory over Jackson State on Tuesday while SFA (10-26, 2-16 SLC) took down Prairie View A&M to end a 13-game skid.
The Red & Gray offense is spearheaded by
Chase Jans (.322) and
Karson Irvin (.313) who have tallied 48 and 42 hits respectively.
Jaden Collura leads the team with 23 RBI followed by Jans with 21. The bullpen has totaled 285 strikeouts as
Alec Sparks leads the way with 39 followed by
Michael Lindsey (33) and
Nuno Parache (29).
In the opposing dugout, the Lumberjacks offense is led by Josh Ibe who leads the team in batting average (.343), hits (36), runs (27), home runs (12), and RBI (32). Dylan Mulcahy and Cody Templeton lead the bullpen with 37 and 36 strikeouts, respectively.
