THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University softball team will wrap up its regular season with a three-game series at Southeastern, starting Friday, April 24 with a 4 p.m. doubleheader at North Oak Park.

Saturday's finale is scheduled for noon. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

Nicholls (27-21, 17-7 SLC) heads into the final weekend with hopes of hosting one of the two brackets for next week's Southland Conference Tournament, but will need to sweep Southeastern (42-11, 20-4 SLC). The Colonels would finished tied with the Lady Lions in the standings but would get the No. 2 seed via the head-to-head tiebreaker. The top two seeds will host bracket play which will start on Thursday, May.

The Colonels also have an outside shot of claiming a share of the regular season title. In addition to a sweep of SLU, Nicholls would need McNeese to lose all three games of its series against Stephen F. Austin. Neither McNeese or Southeastern have suffered a sweep all season. 

The series against the Lady Lions pits the Southland's two top offenses against each other. SLU lets the SLC with a .337 team batting average while the Colonels are second at .323. Nicholls is paced at the plate by Claire Sisco's .456 average with 19 doubles. The Lady Lions are led by Shenita Tucker (.411) and Marie Detillier (.397).

In the circle, SLU has the top pitching staff with a 1.97 ERA. Macie LaRue has been the ace with a 17-1 record and 1.89 ERA. For Nicholls, Molly Yoo has tossed 106 innings with a 10-7 mark with a 4.02 ERA. 

Last season, Nicholls took two out of three against the Lady Lions in Thibodaux. But SLU picked up a 4-1 win in the Southland Conference Tournament.
