FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University softball pitcher
Averi Paden has been named Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Paden garnered the final weekly award of the regular season after going 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA in the series win at Southeastern. In the opener, she allowed one hit in 2.2 shutout innings of relief as Nicholls rallied back for a 9-7 win. Paden then started in the finale and limited SLU to two runs on six hits in 5.0 innings to clinch the series.
The two wins capped off Paden's stellar campaign in conference where she was 8-0 with two saves and a 2.79 ERA.
Paden is the second Colonel to win pitcher of the week this season, joining classmate
Molly Yoo.Â
ON DECK
Nicholls will open postseason play on Thursday, May 1 against Stephen F. Austin. First pitch at North Oak Park in Hammond, Louisiana is scheduled for 1 p.m.
