Colonels Drop 9-4 Decision at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane scored five runs in the first two innings and it was more than enough as the Nicholls State University baseball team fell 9-4 to the Green Wave on Tuesday night at Turchin Stadium.

The loss for Nicholls (15-27) gave Tulane (27-18) a season sweep for the series as the Green Wave took all three contests this year. Nicholls has now dropped eight straight in the series with its last win coming in 2019.

Nicholls finished with nine hits with Jaden Collura leading the way with three and Carter Jenkins added two. Collura's double led to an Aaron Biediger sac fly in the sixth for the Colonels' first run of the night, while Jenkins quickly followed with an RBI single. In the ninth, Logan Mock drove in a pair of runs on a base hit to make the final.

Dalton Hill took the loss with five earned runs on seven hits in 3.0 innings. He struck out two and walked two.

Tulane totaled 11 hits with three different players finishing with two apiece. With two outs in the first inning, the Green Wave took the early lead with three consecutive RBI singles. Then in the second,  Jason Wachs made it 4-0 with a run-scoring double before Gavin Schulz chipped in with an RBI single.

The Green Wave added two insurance runs in the fifth and two in the eighth.

For the Colonels, Joseph Bordelon led the bullpen with three strikeouts in two hitless innings of work.
