THIBODAUX, La. – Nuno Parache struck out 10 batters in the Nicholls State University baseball team's 13-0 run rule victory over Southeastern on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field on Thursday night.
Nicholls' (17-30, 10-18 SLC) center fielder
Narvin Booker Jr. set the tone early with an explosive second and fourth inning. After Parache retired the first six batters in order, Booker Jr. plated
Karson Irvin and
Fisher Ingersoll with a two out single to center field to put the Colonels up 2-0 after two frames.
Following a scoreless third that featured base hits by both teams, Booker Jr. doubled the Red & Gray lead with a two run, two out home run to left center. Parache produced another quick inning in the top of the fifth before the Colonels added two runs on three hits in the home half of the frame. After a
Jaden Collura leadoff walk,
Carter Jenkins and Irvin had consecutive hits. Collura scored on Irvin's hit while Jenkins scored on a Ingersoll sacrifice fly.
The Colonels offense erupted for seven runs on three hits and three errors after Parache pitched his fourth 1-2-3 stanza in the sixth. The inning was highlighted by run scoring singles by
Aaron Biediger,
Andy Miller, and Jenkins.
En route to his fourth victory of the season, Parache allowed two hits and one hit by pitch in his first complete game of the season. Offensively, the Colonels had 13 hits as Irvin and Miller led the way with three while Booker Jr. and Jenkins finished with two apiece.
