Five Colonels Named SLC Softball All-Academic

FRISCO, Texas - For the second straight year, the Nicholl State University softball team had five student-athletes garner Southland All-Academic as Claire Sisco was named first team, while Reagan Heflin, Erin Krause, Averi Paden and Molly Yoo landed on second team. 

The five honorees tied McNeese and Southeastern for the most on the 2025 SLC Academic Teams. Heflin, Krause, Sisco and Yoo were all repeat selections as Nicholls also had the most last year as well.

Sisco posted a 3.97 grade point average as a health sciences - pre-professional major. She had a decorated junior campaign on the field, earning All-Southland First Team, Southland All-Defensive, and was a two-time SLC Hitter of the Week. She tied for first in the SLC with 19 doubles, which ranked 11th in the NCAA, and her .425 batting average ranked third in conference. The .425 clip was also the third best average in school history.

Heflin had a 3.63 GPA in finance to earn her second-straight academic honor. She was an All-SLC Second Team honoree and was also named all-defensive. Heflin finished the season with a .353 batting average which ranked 15th in the Southland. 

Krause registered a 3.75 GPA as a health sciences - pre-professional major. She was a two-time Southland Hitter of the Week and ranked third in the SLC with 41 RBIs. Krause posted the longest hitting streak of the season for the Colonels at 14 games.

Paden was named all-academic for the first time after tallying a 3.90 GPA as a nursing student. For the season, she was 10-7 in the circle with a 4.21 ERA. Paden was stellar in league play, going 8-0 with a 2.79 ERA and picked up two wins in the final weekend en route to being named Southland Pitcher of the Week. 

Yoo had a 3.94 GPA as a secondary education - social studies major. She was also a one-time SLC Pitcher of the Week, finishing the year with a 10-8 record and a 4.22 ERA. Yoo tossed three shutouts including a nine-inning gem in the 1-0 victory over UIW.

Southland Conference All-Academic Teams are voted upon by the head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each school. Voting for one's own athletes is not permitted.
 
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic semester at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.50 GPA and have completed at least one semester of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
