FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University men's tennis sophomore Kotaro Matsumura has been named Southland Men's Tennis All-Academic Second Team, as the league office announced Monday its 2025 academic tennis honors.

Matsumura holds a 3.75 grade point average as a business administration major. To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.

In his second season with the Colonels, Matsumura posted a winning record in both singles and doubles by going 9-6 and 7-5, respectively. He started the season by winning his first six singles matches and went on to pick up a victory against regular season champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Southland Conference All-Academic Teams are voted upon by the head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each school. Voting for one's own athletes is not permitted.
