THIBODAUX, La.– A total of 11 student-athletes from the Nicholls State University's tennis program were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their excellence in the classroom and both the women's and men's teams earned All-Academic Team recognition, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Monday its academic honors.
The women's team continued their impressive streak of being all-academic for a ninth consecutive year, posting a 3.86 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year. Every member of the squad made the academic list as
Constanza Cruz,
Aada Inna,
Noemie Piquet and
Sophia Sara Safarova were repeat selections and were joined by newcomers
Julia Bordiginon,
Amalie Grube Andersen,
Blanca Losada, and
Paulina Villegas.
The men's team received the recognition as well after posting a 3.35 GPA.
Kotaro Matsumura repeated as an academic honoree with
Marcell Marki and
Michael Wood being named to the list in their first season with program.
To be selected as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must have a grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year and be listed on the institution eligibility form.
For a program to receive the ITA All-Academic Team award, it must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale, and all varsity letterwinners factor into the cumulative team grade point average for the current academic year.
