THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team was beaten 50-46 by Northwestern State University inside Stopher Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Nicholls found themselves in another close contest where they struggled offensively but kept the action close with stellar defense as they forced 20 turnovers. The game was a back-and-forth defensive battle throughout as both teams shot below 40% from the field.
Led by
Anyra Wilson's seven second quarter points, and a half ending 7-0 run, the Colonels held a two-point advantage (26-24) at the intermission. The Colonels were outscored 17-10 in the third as they hit three field goals while the Lady Demons hit seven. The Colonels flipped the script in the final quarter but went on a scoring drought the final 3:47 of game time while NSU hit a jumper and free throws to ice the game.
The Red & Gray offense was led by
Marie Kenembeni and
Tanita Swift who combined for 11 made field goals and 12 points and seven rebounds apiece.

Sh'Diamond McKnight and Wilson combined for 20 points.
