THIBODAUX, La. -- Nicholls State University junior outside hitter
Tierney Terrell was named to the Southland Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team the league announced on Friday morning.

Terrell maintains a 4.0 grade point average in the classroom as she is on her way to earning a degree in Psychology.

The Slidell, Louisiana native saw action in 55 sets across 19 matches where she accumulated 136 total points, 120 kills, 66 digs, and 19 blocks. Terrell reached double figure kills in four contests including ending the season with a season best 14 against Southeastern in the final game of the season.

To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average in the semester of the sport's championship  at the nominating school, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.50 GPA and have completed at least two years of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.

First Team All-Conference athletes who meet all-academic nomination criteria are automatically named all-academic.
