THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University Athletics and Thibodaux Regional Health System announced a landmark expansion of their longstanding partnership Friday, representing the largest long-term commitment to athletics in Southland Conference history.
The agreement introduces a co-branded logo patch on uniforms across all 17 Nicholls sports, providing unprecedented visibility for the university's most significant athletics partner.
The announcement brought together leadership from Nicholls State University, Thibodaux Regional Health System, and the Southland Conference, along with student-athletes, coaches, and community supporters.
"This partnership represents exactly what we envisioned when we began building a new model for Nicholls Athletics. Thibodaux Regional Health System believed in that vision, and their commitment continues to set the standard for what a true partnership can accomplish," said Jonathan "JT" Terrell, Vice President of Collegiate Athletics and Athletic Director.
Thibodaux Regional Health System's investment extends well beyond financial support, providing comprehensive sports medicine services, athletic training personnel, advanced medical technology, and premier athletic facilities that benefit Nicholls student-athletes and the Bayou Region.
"This historic partnership with Thibodaux Regional will benefit every Nicholls student-athlete for years to come. From exceptional facilities to outstanding medical care, their commitment to our athletes and our community makes Nicholls and the entire Bayou Region stronger," said Nicholls President Dr. Jay Clune.
Nicholls Athletics continues to build momentum through its three-year strategic plan, demonstrating that an innovative, sustainable approach to collegiate athletics can deliver results. This expanded partnership marks another major step forward in positioning Nicholls to compete for championships and achieve long-term success.
"It reflects our shared commitment to student-athletes, health and wellness, and a stronger community. Together, we're creating opportunities for success far beyond the playing field," said Greg Stock, CEO of Thibodaux Regional Health System.
"Thibodaux Regional Health System and Nicholls have built a transformational partnership that sends a clear message: this university has the vision, the leadership, and the community behind it to build something special, and the Southland Conference shares in that momentum. This partnership will be visible on a jersey, but its value will be measured in opportunities created, championships experienced, and lives impacted," said Southland Conference Commissioner Chris Grant.
