THIBODAUX, La. - Despite another strong showing in doubles action, the Nicholls State University women's tennis team was unable to secure a conference victory as the Colonels dropped a 6-1 decision to Southeastern on Monday night at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
Aada Inna and
Paulina Villegas won at No. 1, 6-2, and
Jada Iverson and
Julia Bordiginon followed with a win at No. 3 by the same score. However in singles play, Nicholls (3-10, 0-6 SLC) took three matches into a three set but came away empty.
Southeastern (10-7, 3-4 SLC) won the first three matches on Courts 6, 1 and 2 in straight sets before the squads battled it out for the final three points.

Noemie Piquet and Bordiginon all fell in the opening set but bounced back to force a third. But the Lady Lions secured the singles sweep by winning the final sets 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1.
The doubles win by Inna/Villegas was the third straight in conference as the duo improved to 4-2 in league play.Â
