FRISCO, Texas - For the second straight season, the Nicholls State University softball team garnered five awards as the Southland Conference announced Wednesday it's 2026 All-Southland Teams and honors.
Headlining the All-Southland selections for the Colonels was
Kayleigh Lugowski who landed on first team as designated player. Outfielder
Madison Moak and pitcher
Molly Yoo were named second team, while
Claire Sisco and
Laylin Sturm garnered All-Defensive at second base and left field, respectively.Â
Lugowski emerged as one of the top sluggers in league play, ranking fifth in home runs (5) and seventh in slugging percentage (.668). She hit .359 with six doubles and 17 RBIs, Â and also ranked eighth in on-base percentage (.481). Lugowski delivered a stellar performance with two home runs in a series win at UIW.
In her debut season, Moak posted a .363 batting average in conference play and ranked sixth in doubles (8) and eighth in RBIs (21). She hit three home runs in conference play, including a grand slam against SFA, driving in six runs in a win.
Yoo was named Southland Pitcher of the Week twice and tied for first in the conference with 11 league wins. She finished second in strikeouts and complete games, throwing two shutouts with only 14 walks in 87 innings. Yoo logged 12.1 innings in a series sweep of McNeese, earning two wins while allowing just one earned run. She also had a complete game victory and a save in a series win at UIW.
Sisco finished the regular season with the eighth-most assists at second base in the Southland, boasting a .981 fielding percentage with just two errors. She was part of seven double plays and earned All-Defensive selection honors last season.
Sturm finished the regular season without committing an error, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. She also recorded four outfield assists and totaled 69 putouts, including 37 in conference play.
