FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University men's basketball senior
Christian Winborne has been named to the 2025-26 Southland Conference Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, as the league office announced Wednesday its academic honors.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Winborne posted a 3.58 grade point average as a business administration major. On the court, he started 17 of his 29 games played and averaged 22.8 minutes in his debut season with the Colonels.
For the year, Winborne averaged 7.9 points and tied for 11th in the SLC with 1.9 made 3-pointers per game and 10th in steals (1.3). He had eight games with three or more 3-pointers and totaled five games with three or more steals including six in a win over AMCC.
Winborne scored in double figures nine times, highlighted by 20 points against Creighton where he made 5-of-5 from 3-point range. He then scored a high of 17 points in conference play against McNeese and East Texas A&M.
Southland Conference All-Academic Teams are nominated by the head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each school. Voting for one's own athlete for Student-Athelte of the year is not permitted.

To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic semester at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.50 GPA and have completed at least one semester of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
