NEW ORLEANS – The Nicholls State University men's and women's track and field teams were announced as part of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic Teams on Monday.
 
The USTFCCCA has announced its 2026 All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Individuals for the 2026 collegiate track & field seasons, recognizing student-athletes and programs that excelled both academically and competitively.
 
The men's squad posted a 3.14 GPA while being led by William Bellina, Trent Granberry, Alex Hartline, Jonell "Deuce" Scott, and Brady Sins who were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic team.
 
The women's team held a 3.34 GPA while being led by Andrea Triado, Anne de Jong, Isabelle Seijlhouwer, Issy Rivault, and Ava-Claire Calais who were named to the SLC All-Academic team.
 
Nicholls head coach Stefanie Slekis is elated about her teams' success in the classroom.
 
"I am so proud of our student-athletes for continuing to put in the work to succeed academically. We talk all the time about how our program cares about developing our student-athletes both academically and athletically and this award shows all of their hard work paying off academically. For our men's program this is something they have been working toward for years and I am grateful to the transfers who brought in a high level of academic success with them and our freshman and upperclassmen who also have put in the work for our team to receive this recognition. This award doesn't show the other work our student-athletes have also put in through other on campus organizations and leadership roles that I know is benefitting their development as they work toward graduating and pursuing their careers. Our women have now made this award a tradition as this is their 7th year in a row to earn this team recognition," Slekis said.
