RUSTON, La. – Senior
Alyssa Wheeler and freshman
Jezlyn Nelson scored in the Nicholls State University women's soccer team's 2-2 draw against Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.
Nicholls fell behind early as LA Tech scored 12 minutes into the game. The Colonels responded shortly before halftime as Wheeler converted a penalty kick to score the first Red & Gray goal of the 2026 season. The Colonels trailed 2-1 after the Techsters scored in the 71st minute on an own goal.
Angelina Rispone connected with Nelson who tied the contest with a left footed shot outside of the box with less than 10 minutes to go.
The Colonels had stout play from goalkeeper
Aislinn Wright who tallied 11 saves. Despite being outshot 21-12 Nicholls generated chances throughout with Wheeler leading the way with four shots.
Olyvia Pugh,
Sammi Doyle, and Rispone added two shots apiece while
Kaylie Harris and Nelson finished with one shot.
