Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Colonels Shutout LCU, 6-0

THIBODAUX, La. -- For the second time this season the Nicholls State University women's soccer team recorded a shutout as they defeated Louisiana Christian 6-0 at Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex on Saturday night.
 
After a scoreless first half that featured 19 shots by Nicholls, the Colonels finally struck gold as Olyvia Pugh connected with Sammi Doyle to break the tie just after the intermission (45:28). A few minutes later, Jezlyn Nelson found Pugh who dished the ball to Doyle again to put the Red & Gray up 2-0.
 
In the 59th minute Pugh scored her fourth goal of the season as she hit a header that got past the goal keeper. Alyssa Wheeler also scored her fourth goal of the season in the 59th minute to put the Colonels up 4-0.
 
The Colonels extended their lead again in the 67th minute following a LCU yellow card. Angelina Rispone scored her second goal of the season as her and Kate Guillory executed a perfect give and go on a free kick. The Red & Gray's final goal was scored by Kaylie Harris in the 78th minute.
 
Nicholls goalkeeper Aislinn Wright recorded one save as the Colonels out shot the Wildcats 38-1. LCU's Marta Papandrea and Sara Mendivelso combined for 11 saves.
