Alisha Allen picked up the first weekly award of her career as the Southland Conference league office named the Garland, Texas native the conference Player of the Week after leading the Colonels to a 2-1 week by averaging 17.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.3 steals in three games last week.
Allen is the first Colonel women's basketball player to be named Southland Conference Player of the Week since teammate
Ricshanda Bickham was named the league's player of the week on Feb. 8, 2010.
Allen was the Colonels' best all-around performer last week, turning in at least ten points in all three of her games, and leading Nicholls in scoring in two contests.
Allen totaled a team-high17 points on 6-for-14 shooting while grabbing five rebounds and recording two steals and a block at North Texas on Monday.
She followed that performance by recording a pair of blocks, four rebounds and one assist to go along with ten points in Wednesday's win over Bethune-Cookman.
Allen finished her week by leading all scorers with 24 points on 9-for-19 shooting while also posting two assists, one block and two steals to lead the Colonels to a 72-63 victory over Georgia State on Saturday.
