Ray became the fifth player in program history to be named Southland Conference Player of the Year, joining Leanne Beeler ('92), Amy Orr ('95), Rashunda Taylor ('96) and Courtney Blades ('98). Ray is also the fourth Colonel to earn newcomer of the year - Taylor ('95), Debbie Goddu ('96) and Blades ('97).
A transfer from Louisiana-Lafayette, Ray had one of the most remarkable seasons in Colonel history, leading the Southland in home runs (17), RBI (51), total bases (123) and slugging percentage (.732). Ray came close to becoming the first player in the SLC's existence to win the triple crown - leader in batting average, home runs and runs batted in – however; her .369 clip trailed only Central Arkansas' Melanie Bryant, who led the league with a .429 average en route to earning hitter of the year.
Overall, Ray finished in the top 10 of eight offensive categories in the SLC including; third in hits (62), seventh in runs (34) and ninth in on-base percentage (.424). In the field, she recorded a league-best 142 assists.
Ray set or tied three Nicholls records this season, including two in the home run category. On April 26, she set the single-game mark with three homers in one game and at the same time tied the single-season record of 14 home runs. Ray went on to break the season record the next day and finished the year with 17 homers, putting her at a tie for seventh on the Nicholls all-time career list. She also ended the season on a 14-game hitting streak, tying Tyra Perry ('94) and teammate
Megan Gaspard ('10) for longest streak in program history.
