Nicholls State University

Samantha Calhoun was responsible for adding 19 points to the Nicholls school record finish of 64 total points and a seventh place finish at the 2011 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend.

Calhoun clocked in at 11.60 in the 100 M, cruising to victory by a full tenth of a second.  The Morgan City, La. native returned later in the day to take second place in the 200 m.  Calhoun's 200 m time of 23.81 earned her all-conference honors and set a new school record in the event.  Calhoun's 100 M championship and 200 M runner-up showing combined with Dockrey's high jump title, Whisnant's steeplechase win and freshman Jaime Springer's runner-up showing in the javelin to give Nicholls five performances in the top three and earn All-Southland Conference honors.

Calhoun returned to the track one last time, anchoring the Nicholls 4x100 m relay team to a 44.99 showing to net fifth place and four points.
