Nicholls will host UTSA on Saturday
THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will host UTSA on Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of a women's/men's doubleheader at Stopher Gym.
Nicholls (13-11, 6-5) had Wednesday night off and will be looking to rebound after a divisional loss at Lamar on Saturday. UTSA (7-17, 3-8) heads into the matchup on a six-game skid following a 65-54 setback at home against McNeese State.
Saturday will mark the first meeting between the teams since last year's double-overtime contest on Feb. 19 in San Antonio, where Nicholls erased a 12-point deficit will less than four minutes remaining to force extra time. Despite the valiant effort by the Colonels, UTSA went on the win, 73-63, to extend its winning streak to six games against Nicholls.

Sumar Leslie continues to put up MVP-type numbers for the Colonels - averaging 16.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists - sophomore
KK Babin has been on a tear lately, scoring over 19 points per game in the last three outings. During the span, Babin has connected on 14 3-pointers, shooting a remarkable 51.9 percent from behind the arc. She currently ranks 17th in the nation with 2.8 3-pointers made per game and is 37th in 3-point percentage (37.5).
Nicholls has been stellar at home this season, sporting an 8-2 record while scoring 71 points per game. UTSA has struggled on the road so far, posting a 1-9 record; however, the Roadrunners were able to knock off Corpus-Christi, who beat Nicholls earlier this season, by 20 points on the Islanders' home court.
Although UTSA does not have any players scoring in double figures, the Roadrunners have five that are averaging over seven points per game, led by Kamra King (9.5) and Judy Jones (9.3). UTSA anchors one of the strongest defenses in the Southland, holding opponents to a .369 field goal percentage, which ranks third. The Roadrunners also lead the SLC in blocks (121) and have two players ranked in the top ten – Whitney Wright (1.8/4th) and Jones (1.0/8th).
UTSA leads the all-time series 27-11 and has won 11 of 20 matchups in Thibodaux.
