THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University women's soccer's all-time assists leader
Jess Coates added three more to her total as the Colonels earned a 3-0 Senior Day victory over Sam Houston State on Sunday at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.
Coates, who was one of seven seniors to be honored before the game, upped her program best assist mark to 19. Fellow Australian
Kristy Helmers was on the receiving end of two of the helpers as she scored the Colonels' first and third goals of the match. Senior
Hannah Savoie knocked in the other, giving her goal No. 3 on the season.

Taylor Mosley got the start in the net and for the second consecutive match, the Colonels had a clean sheet to improve their record to 6-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in league play. With the loss, Sam Houston dropped to 2-13-1 and 2-5-1.
The Colonels scored two goals in the first half, with the first coming at the 11:15 mark. Coates sent a through ball to Helmers for her fifth goal of her freshman campaign.
Ten minutes later, Savoie chipped a shot from the left side into the back of the net for an early 2-0 lead.
Following the break, Coates and Helmers connected once again for a 3-0 advantage at the 49:05 mark. The Bearkat keeper was able to get a piece of the ball, but it still found its way into the net.
The Colonels fired off 16 shots, with seven being on target. Sam Houston had just four shots, getting two in each half.
Nicholls will play its final three matchups on the road, starting Friday, Oct. 21 at Northwestern State. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
