MOBILE, Ala. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team came up short on Sunday at South Alabama as the Colonels fell 6-1 to the nationally-ranked Jaguars at Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
Max Sinn was the lone Colonels to earn a point as he picked up a win on the No. 5 court over Gerhard Gruindelingh, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5).
Evan Karatzas and
Kieran Cronin had close matches in singles, but ultimately fell in straight sets. Karatzas was defeated 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2, while Cronin fell to Juan Troglia, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
In doubles, the Colonels fell on courts No. 1 and 2 to drop the point. Sinn and
Oscar Reeve were tied 4-4 on the No. 3 court when play was suspended.
Nicholls will return to the courts next Sunday as they host Xavier (La.) at 11 a.m.
