THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's tennis team earned its second win in the last three matches as the Colonels blanked Omaha, 4-0, Tuesday evening at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
 
The win improved the Colonels' record to 3-10 overall, while Omaha slipped to 7-11 on the season.
 
The Colonels started the match by taking the doubles point, winning courts 2 and 3. Evan Karatzas and Sam Meessen won 6-2 at No. 3 before Max Sinn and Bernard Wezeman clinched the point with a 6-2 win.
 
Oleksander Podgursky gave Nicholls a 2-0 advantage after defeating Colin Buckley in straight sets on the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-2. The bottom third of the lineup would secure the shutout for Nicholls as Kieran Cronin and Wezeman won at 5 and 6, respectively. Cronin bounced John Ellis, 6-1, 7-5, and Wezeman stayed undefeated in singles at 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Erik Anderson.
 
Karatzas, Sinn and Meessen all won their first sets before their matches went unfinished.
 
The Colonels will play their final conference road match on Friday, March 25 at Lamar. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
