Nicholls Seeks Revenge at Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday

LAFAYETTE, La. – On March 29, the Nicholls State University baseball team outplayed Louisiana-Lafayette, but committed a ninth-inning error that allowed the Ragin' Cajuns to steal a 5-4 victory at Ray E. Didier Field. On Tuesday at 6 p.m. the Colonels will look to avenge that heartbreaking loss with a road win at M.L. Tigue Moore Field.

Nicholls (16-21, 7-11 SLC) appears to be hitting its stride at the perfect time after picking up back-to-back Southland Conference series victories against Incarnate Word and Central Arkansas.

Louisiana-Lafayette (24-12, 10-5 SLC) is coming off of a 2-1 series win over Southeastern Louisiana.

The Ragin' Cajuns own a 72-57-1 edge all-time against the Colonels. Last season Nicholls swept its series against Louisiana-Lafayette for the first time since 1996. The Colonels picked up a 3-1 victory on March 25 in Lafayette, before earning a 5-4 walk-off win on May 12 in Thibodaux.

This season Kyle Reese spearheads the Nicholls attack with a .381 average, 32 hits, 22 RBIs and 14 runs. Ethan Valdez boasts team-highs in both runs (30) and stolen bases (12), while Gavin Wehby paces the squad with 43 hits.

Joe Robbins leads the Ragin' Cajuns with a .333 average, 43 hits, 31 runs, 25 RBIs, nine home runs and six stolen bases. Stefan Trosclair is second on the squad with 26 runs scored and Brian Mills is second on the team with 24 RBIs.
