LINCOLN, Nebr. – In what might be the most confusing baseball series to watch all year, a pair of teams that don comparable shades of red, possess remarkably similar "N" logos and are both sponsored by Adidas will meet for just the second time in program history as the Nicholls State University baseball team battles Nebraska in a three-game series beginning at 6:35 p.m. on Friday at Hawks Field.
 
The Colonels (16-22, 7-11 SLC) are 5-12 away from Thibodaux this season, but earned victories in their two most recent road series against Incarnate Word and Central Arkansas. Nicholls is coming off of a tough 4-3 midweek loss at the hands of Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday.
 
The Cornhuskers (23-14, 7-5 Big Ten) suffered a five-game skid before earning an 11-inning 5-1 win over Kansas State on Tuesday. Nebraska is 13-4 at home this year, including series victories against Loyola Marymount, Wichita State, Illinois and Northwestern.
 
The Colonels and Cornhuskers have met only once in program history. Nebraska earned a 10-2 victory over Nicholls on Feb. 19, 1999 at the Marriott West Loop Invitational in Houston, Texas.
 
Kyle Reese spearheads the Colonel offense, batting .364 with 22 RBIs and 14 runs. Gavin Wehby leads the team with 44 hits and holds a .338 average with 22 runs and 20 RBIs. Kyle Knauth paces the squad with 24 RBIs, while Ethan Valdez boasts team-highs in both runs (31) and stolen bases (12). Knauth has reached base in 22 consecutive games and is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak.
 
Ben Miller leads the Cornhuskers with a .352 average, 56 hits, 26 RBIs and 22 runs scored. Scott Schreiber has a team-high 35 RBIs, while Ryan Boldt and Jake Placzek each have 36 runs on the year. Boldt paces the squad with 16 stolen bases.

Following this weekend's action the Colonels return home for a three-game Southland Conference series against McNeese State, beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 29. Nicholls will then head to Texas for a three-game league series at Houston Baptist, beginning May 6.
