MONROE, La. – Following a perfect weekend to start the 2016 campaign, the Nicholls State University soccer team hit the road for the first time this year and was defeated 1-0 by ULM on Friday evening.
The teams combined for eight shots on goal, with the only one getting past the keepers was off the foot of ULM's Cke'Lana Caesar at the 72:23 mark. It was the second goal allowed this season by keeper
Roosa Hurmerinta, while her counterpart, Brooke Scroggins, picked up a clean sheet for the Warhawks (2-2-1)
Jess Coates led the Colonels (2-1) with three shots (two on goal) and
Francesca Curteis had two.
Hannah Savoie added a shot as well.
The Colonels wrap up their road swing on Sunday at Grambling. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Nicholls then returns home for its next two matches, hosting LA Tech (Sept. 11) and Lamar (Sept. 16).
