STORYLINES
- The Colonels started their Southland Conference schedule at 2-0 and will look to win back-to-back games for the first time the hot start. After a disappointing loss Thursday at HBU, Nicholls returned home to defeat McNeese, 78-74, Saturday at Stopher Gym.
- With one month of Southland Conference play in the books, there is still a lot to be determined in the standings. Southeastern Louisiana heads into the matchup in a three-way tie for third, while Nicholls is knotted with three teams for seventh place. There are currently nine teams that are within two games of each other in the standings.
- Nicholls will be looking to change their fortunes on the road this season where they have a 2-9 record. After the loss at HBU, the Colonels fell to 0-4 away from Stopher Gym in league play.

Johnathan Bell continues to strive as one of the Colonels' primary scorers as he finished with 19 points in the win over McNeese. Over the last five games, Bell leads the team in scoring at 18.4 points per game.

Liam Thomas was held to one block for the second straight game, but still leads the NCAA at 3.82 per game. His lone block against McNeese came in the final minute, preventing the Cowboys from tying the game. Thomas needs one more block to tie his program single-season record of 85, which he set last season.

Ja'Dante' Frye leads the Colonels in scoring on the season, averaging 15.7 points per game.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- Southeastern Louisiana will be looking to end a two-game losing streak. The Lions had their 16-game home winning streak snapped, 85-71, by Northwestern State last Wednesday, before falling to Sam Houston State on Saturday.
- Southeastern is averaging 72.4 points per game on 45.8 percent shooting. The Lions rank second in the conference in both scoring defense (69.2 ppg) and field goal percentage defense (43.5 percent).
- SLU is led by guard Davon Hayes at 13.1 points per game, followed by Marlain Veal (13.0 ppg). Hayes hit seven 3-pointers in the loss to Sam Houston, finishing with a team-high 23 points.

- Southeastern leads 50-43 in the series that dates back to the 1959-60 season.
- The Lions and Colonels split last season's matchups, with Southeastern taking a 69-61 win in Hammond and Nicholls winning in Thibodaux, 64-45, in the regular season finale.
