THIBODAUX, La. — Stopher Gymnasium will play host to Colonel Kids Day Wednesday morning as the Nicholls State University women's basketball team squares off against SUNO at 11:30 a.m.
Children from local elementary and middle schools will be in attendance for the special early-morning tipoff. Admission for the game is free of charge.
Nicholls (1-4) has split its home games this season, winning the opener over Spring Hill College before falling to Jacksonville. After sporting a dominating 38-10 record at Stopher from 2011-15, the program had a losing record at home in 2015-16, but bounced back last year with a 7-5 mark.
The Colonels are averaging 69.5 points in front of their home crowd, highlighted by a 78-point effort in the win over Spring Hill. The scoring output was a season-high for the Red and Gray and the lone 70-point game for the team this season.
SUNO brings a 2-3 record to Thibodaux, not including a 76-61 loss to McNeese in an exhibition contest. The Lady Knights started the season with two straight wins before dropping their last three.
SUNO has three players scoring in double figures, led by Andriel Moss with 16.3 points per game. Moss will be looking to lead the Lady Knights to their first victory against Nicholls, which has a 7-0 advantage in the all-time series.
